The first British Siamese were given to the English ambassador to Siam (Thailand) as a gift. Some Siamese can live to be over 20 years old. The voice of the Siamese has been likened to that of an infant; the sound is called Meezer, which is also a nickname for the Siamese. Siamese are one of the oldest domesticated cat breeds.
