The first British Siamese were given to the English ambassador to Siam (Thailand) as a gift. Siamese can use their paws like hands to open cabinets. Some Siamese can live to be over 20 years old. The voice of the Siamese has been likened to that of an infant; the sound is called Meezer, which is also a nickname for the Siamese. Siamese are one of the oldest domesticated cat breeds.
